you can’t really place all the blame for bad female character design on artists because a lot of that comes from higher up the chain of command, which is something I learned the hard way when a client had me draw breasts and eyelashes on a wasp so that it was obvious she’s a girl wasp

Op I’m so sorry but I had to immortalise the vision this post gave me

I can’t post the actual art here but it’s actually uncanny how close the second image is to what it looked like

Hugo Simberg, The Garden of Death, 1896.

Every time I see this I always wonder what the painter’s intended message was. It looks so pleasant, that middle skeleton looks so happy with its work.

Maybe it’s supposed to be a memento mori, but a comforting and encouraging one.

This is one of the most famous paintings in Finland. There are multiple interpretations of it but they all share the same base idea:

“According to Simberg, the flowers represent people’s souls, the skeletons are aids to Death, and the Garden of Death is a purgatory of sorts for souls waiting for entrance into heaven. This artwork invites the viewer to consider the afterlife, to take comfort in his or her own passing, and to not fear what happens after the body fails to function.”

“It depicts Simberg’s thoughts on afterlife, which is not run by angels but skeletons who take care of the heavenly garden with a gentle hand, while waiting for more “gardeners” to arrive. It is derived from the medieval belief that the dead sleep in a blooming garden.”

“In Simberg’s garden the humble Death-like figures struggle against harsh conditions; the landscape around the garden has burnt yellow, it is dry and barren. The cherished flowers grow in exotic shapes, slowly, requiring constant care. The black-clad figures love their nurslings. The garden is a place where Death is allowed to realize its feelings of affection. The Garden of Death can be seen depicting the impossibility of this love; maybe the flowers are tender and fragile because they can not handle the love of Death. Love has two faces: one of them is the face of devastation.”

twitter is going to be shut down. half of reddit is locked or completely unmoderated. the entire first page of google search results are ads. tumblr does not and will never have a functioning search system and their content moderation is 100% automated. youtube only shares ad revenue with people who make snuff films for Youtube Kids. facebook is selling your grandma’s social security number under the table for like $5. web 2.0 is completely dead right

im so fucking serious when i say that no one is crueler to visibly disabled people than girlies with blue wolfcuts and sharp eyeliner wearing hundred dollar sweaters from shein.

like. there’s a weird misconception that it’s old people, but i have never once had an issue with anyone over the age of, like, 55. they are fine with me muttering to myself or making weird faces or not hearing them the first five times they call my name. that’s not a problem for them. when my brother goes out with a cane, they’re the ones who compliment it, and tell him the spikes and ribbons are a cute addition.

yesterday this pink haired girl in the bathroom told me that i needed to stay away from movie theaters if i was going to act like a schizo. ten minutes later an 80 year old woman complimented me on my bright red hearing aids and said she wished she had that confidence when she got hers.

anyways to the anon who just said that maybe i shouldn’t be in public spaces. thank you for proving my point

a very important addition.

ok this post was originally about psychosis and plurality, but this is also a really good addition.

I just saw a story on AO3 tagged “pet p!ay”

TIK TOK MUST BE STOPPED BEFORE IT DESTROYS LANGUAGE

Ok, unless something’s going on I’m not aware of (extremely likely), I gotta point out the term “Pet Play” is significantly older than Tik Tok, or most of its userbase for that matter.

Yeah, I’m not mad about using the term “pet play”. That’s a perfectly fine term. I’m mad because they didn’t use that term: they used “pet p!ay”, a censored version

Oh. Oh gawd I missed that. Objection withdrawn, that is objectively terrible.

To anybody who is new to posting on ao3, if you’re using a tag you have to use the correct spelling of that tag. People aren’t going to type in every version of a censored word to hide or look for your content

For everyone new to tumblr, the same rule applies to tumblr too.

You cannot censor your tags! Censored tags cannot be block or filtered. Censoring tags HARMS your audience, it does not protect them

Something that I think should be an important part of solarpunk aesthetics is screws.

Look at your smartphone. No screws. You’ve got to have specialized tools to get inside your phone to repair something. There are certain pieces of tech that are glued in place and glue can’t be undone without permanently breaking the bond.

But screws!

You can take apart a broken old radio, repair what’s broken, and, if you were careful in taking it apart, you can put it back together and have a fully functioning radio and all you need is a common screwdriver!

It’s hard to build screws and other mechanical fasteners because it requires more planning than clamps and glues, but isn’t that what solarpunk is all about‽ It’s about care and sustainability and and a radio or a computer built carefully with repair in mind is a sustainable computer that stays out of landfills and in use.

I have never felt so validated in never having given up on Tumblr.

an Elon musk tweet To address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits: - Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day - Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day - New unverified accounts to 300/dayALT

IT GETS WORSE!

“This is hilarious. It appears that Twitter is DDOSing itself.

The Twitter home feed’s been down for most of this morning. Even though nothing loads, the Twitter website never stops trying and trying.

In the first video, notice the error message that I’m being rate limited. Then notice the jiggling scrollbar on the right.

The second video shows why it’s jiggling. Twitter is firing off about 10 requests a second to itself to try and fetch content that never arrives because Elon’s latest genius innovation is to block people from being able to read Twitter without logging in.

This likely created some hellish conditions that the engineers never envisioned and so we get this comedy of errors resulting in the most epic of self-owns, the self-DDOS.

Unbelievable. It’s amateur hour.”

So he artificially limited the number of tweets you can see per day with a “free” account.

Once you hit your limit, it stops you from loading the page. But it also doesn’t know WHY it isn’t loading, so it keeps TRYING.

Twitter is literally hitting itself in the face ten times per second per user.

This is so completely amateurish it’s unbelievable. It’s like putting your car in neutral and slamming your foot on the gas until your engine redlines and then wondering why it’s making a horrible noise and a terrible smell but not going anywhere.

It gets worse

This is so comically bad I don’t how to explain it to people who aren’t chronically online l😂😂😂

I mean people of a certain age use Twitter for everything from talking to friends to getting news

Its like, imagine if your tv just turned off after you watched it for two hours and couldn’t be turned back on from 24 hours

No it’s absolutely terrible. There are people who freelance and are artists who do most of their finding of work on Twitter.

It really sucks for those people.
